If you operate a motor vehicle without a driver’s licence, or if your driver’s licence has expired, you could be charged with this offence. Your driver’s licence should correspond to the class of vehicle you are driving (i.e.., motorcycle, tractor-trailer, etc.) In Ontario, there are 15 different classes of driver’s licenses.
No demerits are issued for driving without a valid licence, however, you will be fined. This charge remains on your driving record for three (3) years and may increase your insurance rates.
